The Playoffs
It's October and that means the leaves are turning, crisp air/cool breezes, apple cider, and of course...THE RACE TO THE WORLD SERIES! Before I go into any wild guesses and predictions of the future world champions (sounding like an ESPN television anchor) I want to state that my team, the beloved Cleveland Indians had a very disappointing sseason. The Tribe finished 19 games out of first-place with a 78-84 record, 6 games under .500. While this is greatly disappointing, my playoff fever has risen and I find myself interested in teams I never even gave a thought to in the regular season, let alone cheered for them. Sure, I know all the Yankee all-stars (all nine batters with their 6-digit salary starting line-up) and the distinguishing and catchy names of the Oakland Athletics, but what about my new-found favoritism of the LA Dodgers and the feel-good Central Division rival Detroit Tigers? In short, IT'S FUN and I wake up early to check the line-ups and daily schedule to plan my triple-header of baseball watching.
The question is, "Who will win it all?" I want to give a brief answer and save you the details (you can catch those on your favorite sports station). As much as I hate to say this, the New York Yankees seem, or rather LOOK, unbeatable. Even though they have a weak bullpen minus Mariano Rivera, their line-up is a modern-day Murderer's Row and can make the impossible possible. They might have trouble with some of the American League teams but they will make a meat market of any National League team.
