Really Mom, Surfing the Web is Better for Me than Reading a Book
Reading is an activity that can be so inspiring and mind-engaging. I know the smell of a book from Borders the minute it sits in front of my face due to my association of the store with some of my favorite books I've purchased over the years. Think about this for a second: what if someone told you that spending hours on the Internet surfing mindlessly around the cyber-universe of YouTube & Facebook actually stimulated your brain more than reading "East of Eden?" You would say, "Ugh...no way." Yes way! According to this article that I found (apparently giving my noggin an ultra workout), a University of California research team found that people who spent time searching the Internet stimulated more areas of their brain than people that read a book for the same amount of time. I think that's the gist of it. See for yourself, but please, don't stop reading even if they are novels of the title "How to Seduce an Arch-Duke."
